We stopped by The Fish Express on Thanksgiving afternoon and were thrilled to find them open! We arrived about an hour before closing and, luckily, just before a huge crowd showed up. It felt like perfect timing--we could tell the people behind us were getting the very last of the poke for the day. This spot is a gem and so convenient--less than five minutes from the airport! It's the perfect place to enjoy your first meal on the island or grab a divine last snack before you depart. The selection was still impressive, and our group enjoyed some of the freshest and most flavorful poke we've had on Kauai. We truly appreciated the family running the restaurant and staying open on Thanksgiving, allowing us to savor this special meal. If you're in Lihue and want authentic, delicious poke, don't miss The Fish Express. We'll definitely be back--just make sure you get there before the rush!

Ok this poke was orgasmic... I don't think I'll ever have poke again that will live up to fish express. I went there as many times I could while on vacation in Kauai. If I could eat this ever day I would. The fish was always fresh and delicious. Ahi inamona was my ultimate favorite

Sorry for no pics, but being hungry and having a wonderful meal... just had to dig in ! The service is fast and courteous. It's not a sit down restaurant but there are plenty of beach parks for eat at. I had a poke bowl, so what's better than eating fresh fish at the beach?! You have the choice local favorites to oick like kaloa pork and lau lau. I had the 2 scoop poke with spicy tuna, and ahi with Maui onion. Also had sushi rice and different toppings. Nom nom! Don't miss this little local favorite.

You know how sometimes you're not even all that hungry, but the food is so good you can't stop eating? Yeah, this place! Broke da mout' as my dad would say. I got a poke bowl (so many choices: ahi, salmon, spicy, not spicy...) - piled all the goodies on top (crisp takuan, seaweed salad, imitation crab, kim chee...) weighed it, and ate a little more than half of it after I'd already had lunch! You can also get fish jerky and nice cuts of fish to take home and cook if you're ambitious and can wait to feed your face! Lol! This is a typical Hawai'i lunch counter, where you pick up your food and go to the beach or take it home to eat it, so there's no seating. The service area is small, and I can totally imagine the line going out the door during the lunch rush. Well worth seeking out!

This is not an eat-in place. There is VERY limited parking. Come in the doors and order directly at the counter. The folks working are very friendly. They will ask your name for the order. They have a bunch of poke bowls, as well as several different plates to order. My wife had the Chinese plate, which is essentially a bunch of different proteins and rice. I had the macadamia encrusted fish, which was pretty good. You pay at the end of the counter. Food is pretty good but as is typical in the islands, prepare for a line and no parking. Good overall.

OMG. WAs in Kawaii for 5 days and we came here three times for the poke! So fresh and convenient. It's a small no fuss store where you order at a counter where you can see all the options and there is one or two benches out in front to eat at. The staff is kind but definitely are in a hurry to get things moving. The fish is fresh and there is a bar on the side with toppings that are priced by weight. The poke itself is sold by weight by itself or in poke bowls and sells out quickly so don't arrive too late or you will miss out! The poke is most popular but they do have some warm dishes which were great and some dishes pre-prepared which seem to go on 50% off sale at a certain time of the day! We got some fried soft shell crab, rice and shrimp on sale later on in the day which was great. Definitely a must stop by spot near Lihue! Getting more popular so hope they keep the good prices and local vibes.

These types of shops are my favorite. Small joints that do food right. Only 1 star off because it was 1pm and they said they didn't have alot of the food I wanted to try after reading about them. So this is your tip to come in early! Poke was good. Standard Ahi Limu, etc. nothing stood out, but it was delicious. The Pork Lau Lau was amazing. Salty. Fatty. Don't hesitate to order. The chicken long rice was kind of plain and forgettable, but that didn't matter with a Lau Lau that good. No room inside. Smaaaaaaalllll parking lot. You know how it goes.
